Code of Conduct

Ruma Music Festival is a place to enjoy music from international artists alongside the culture and natural setting of Ruma village.

It is a joint effort between the Ruma community and Music For Education, a driven to improve the educational outcomes of rural Nepali children. Everything that we do at the festival impacts the community and the local environment. We ask that you bring an open and respectful attitude to the festival.

Your agreement to the code of conduct is needed to purchase a festival pass, and purchase of a festival pass will be deemed as agreement.

Belongings

  • Please sort all garbage into the appropriate bins. Please do not litter, including cigarette butts.

  • Please also take all camping items with you when you leave the festival. Abandoned items will be removed and disposed of after the festival.

  • Please take care of your own belongings. We cannot be responsible for accidents and theft of personal belongings.

  • Fireworks, explosives, and weapons are strictly prohibited.

Behavior

  • Behavior that may harm other people, such as diving and throwing things, is prohibited. The festival is not responsible for injuries and accidents due to such acts. We reserve the right to eject parties for harmful behavior.

  • Be respectful of local people and their traditions. Please refrain from behavior that can cause annoyance to local residents.

  • Please avoid excess drinking. We reserve the right to eject excessive drinkers from the festival site.

  • Illegal drugs are not allowed. If you are seen handling, consuming or under the influence of any illegal substances, we have reserve the right to deny entry or ask you to leave the festival.

  • Persons found to have entered the festival illegally will be reported to the local police.

  • Guests staying in local homestays are asked to please not expect unrealistic services, as the homestay hosts are opening their own home.

  • We will not tolerate harassment and intimidation of any nature. This sexual, physical, verbal, or emotional. Disrespect of others' gender, sexual orientation, age, appearance, marital status, religion, or ability will not be tolerated.
